He was turned by Krul -- a third progenitor. Because of this, he's a rarity in terms of power. It's made very clear that it's a big deal for him to be as strong as he is. Even without his vampire transformation being complete, he's strong enough to defeat someone like Guren. Seeing as Guren is an incredibly powerful human, with years of experience and a black demon series weapon on his side, this is a notable feat.

He wields a First Class Armament. He can order his sword to drink his blood. Upon being given that order, thorn-covered vines wrap around his hand. In the anime, it looks like this. In the manga, it looks much more painful.

His fighting skills are directly linked to his weapon; the more blood that the sword consumes, the faster/stronger he becomes.

Strength/Speed: As evidenced during his fight with Guren, he's incredibly fast. Even after being lured into the trap that was set by the humans, he was able to dodge in time to miss being hit. His speed is far from what it could be, however, seeing as he's not a full-fledged vampire. His strength is also above a human's; just like with the speed, it's nowhere what it could be (which is seven times stronger than a human).

Regeneration: Vampires are able to heal exceptionally fast. So fast that they're capable of re-attaching limbs within a split second. A demon weapon can practically halt this ability. As shown in canon, being stabbed directly through the heart by a demon weapon (but definitely not a regular weapon) can kill a vampire.

Blood: Drinking blood makes a vampire stronger and faster. On the flip side, according to Krul and Ferid, going without blood for too long can turn a vampire into a demon. Because of this, denying himself too often could result in him taking on a new form with frighteningly strong power.

Drinking human blood would complete his transformation into a vampire. He'd be granted eternal youth, (quite possibly) red eyes that can see better than a human's, as well as a drastic increase in his speed and strength.
